Data Sources : Management

Data Sources are the locations where you store your personal data. This means any kind, from paper-based, to a laptop, USB drive, cloud storage... We divided them in 3 flavours:

  1. Software : To access the files, you need to log in with a user name & password (and beyond). Whoever has these credentials, can access the data. Think of your cloud-platform for accountancy, but also Email and online backups. An Excel file does not belong here, because the data is in a file, not behind an application. Excel files belong in the second category.
  2. File: Any kind of digital (so not paper) storage. This comprehends the files on your computer, on a network drive, on a USB-stick, ...Even if the files themselves are password-protected or encrypted, they belong here.
  3. Paper : This is the easiest category and comprehends all printed or copied data on paper.

Enter the personal data kept in each Data Source, how rights are managed, whet the security measurements are and how long the data is kept.

Business card : If you keep your received business cards in an organised system, you need to report it here as a Data Source. If you are not sure if you have to report it, we advise to do so, better to be safe than sorry.
